Eight children killed in Louisiana shooting
Eight kids are gone now, taken when gunfire broke out in Shreveport, Louisiana. A fight at home spiraled fast – no warning before shots rang through. Those hit were young, all under twelve, some brothers and sisters, one cousin too. Their lives ended between age three and eleven. Others survived but carry wounds that won’t show on skin. Officers arrived to silence where laughter had been hours earlier.
Woman and child jump from roof to escape
A sudden leap from the roof carried a woman and a young child clear of danger during the assault. Officials later said they were alive, resting without serious harm. Their fall ended in survival.
A kid – number nine – made it out by leaping off the roof during the gunfire. Medics showed up afterward, tending to those hit before taking them to hospital.
Second Attack and Police Response
A short time later, the person left the first place and went to a house close by. Once inside that home, gunfire struck a woman; right after, he grabbed her three kids and ran.
Later came word of a stolen vehicle tied to the man they sought. Around six twenty nine, officers spotted him, shots followed. Lying there afterward, he did not move. It remains unclear if bullets from cops took his life or his own hand did.
Victims and Family Information
Eight kids lost their lives when violence struck, officials said. Names came out later – Jayla Elkins was one, followed by her sister Shayla. Kayla Pugh made the list, alongside her siblings Layla and Markaydon. From another family, Sariahh Snow, then Khedarrion, both gone too. The last named was Braylon Snow. Each name a story cut short.
Suspect and Possible Motive
What started as a family argument may have sparked the event, officials say. A gun involved matches the look of military-type rifles, police added. Where that weapon came from remains unclear for now.
Investigation Ongoing
Figuring out why the attack happened remains a work in progress for officers. Should anyone recall something useful, authorities hope they’ll speak up. Then again, details could emerge slowly.
