If you are wealthy, this is an excellent place to live. There’s an army of the impoverished waiting to serve you. Cooks to make your food, housekeepers to watch the kids, drivers to get you around, floor cleaners to make your floors sparkle, and gardeners to put your roses in bloom.

Subsequently, there exist exclusive clubs, upscale neighborhoods, prestigious educational institutions, and specially designed hospitals that can accommodate any medical need. Amid whirlpools of poverty, these islands of prosperity shine like a beacon.

How many people paid attention to the recent Karachi sale of premier number plates? It truly opened my eyes. The man who paid an impressive ten crores for the most sought-after number, Sindh 1.

Just think! But he wasn’t by himself. This ego auction raised more than fifty crore rupees.

Everybody is free to use the money they have paid in taxes anyway they see fit. Nobody is contesting that. Bravo, in fact, to the Sindh administration for snatching up more money. Just that in this instance, its blatant excess was striking. In a nation where the vast majority is fighting for their lives, it was a moment of shock and awe.

This luxury extends beyond license plates. I have been informed that a restaurant in Karachi, purportedly run by a government figure from Sindh, is charging fifty thousand rupees for each beef steak. Additionally, sales are occurring.

Additionally, sales are occurring. Once more, who are we to question them if they can afford it and are filing their taxes? However, it just doesn’t seem right in a nation where millions of kids suffer from malnutrition and grow up stunted.

The Dubai Leaks were noteworthy in two respects because they shed some light on the actions of the wealthy in Pakistan. It demonstrated that Americans are the second-highest purchasers of real estate in Dubai despite severe economic difficulties at home. We outbid the nouveau riche Egyptians, Iranian expats, and Russian oligarchs.

This large overseas investment demonstrates a troubling tendency that is rarely acknowledged by the general public. It is the concern the nation’s elite have for the future of the nation. There is a nagging concern that something apocalyptic might occur and that their money and way of life are in danger. Properties overseas are therefore insurance against any such disaster.

Likewise, a passport from another country. The wealthy and powerful frequently hold dual citizenship. Since it would be hard to replicate their opulent lifestyle in Pakistan, very few people genuinely want to live abroad. Yet as a precautionary step, dual citizenship is actively sought for and obtained.
