The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the Men’s Test and One-day International (ODI) teams for 2023 on Tuesday, and no Pakistani player made the cut.
Eleven exceptional players who made an impression in 2023—whether it was with the bat, the ball, or their all-around skills—are recognized as members of the ICC Team of the Year.
After leading Australia to their first-ever World Test Championship (WTC) 2021–23 victory and claiming a total of 42 wickets in the year, Pat Cummins of Australia has been chosen captain of the Test Team of the Year.
Mitchell Starc, Cummins’ rival, also joined the team after making significant plays with red-ball during the year.Australia was the most represented country in the Team of the Year, with five of its players making the roster.
Indian players dominated the ODI Team of the Year, which was not surprising given that the Blues, although losing the World Cup final to Australia, played the finest 50-over cricket.
Due to his outstanding performance throughout the year—he finished with 1255 runs—India’s Rohit Sharma was elected captain of the team.
The other Indians in the ODI Team of the Year were Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Mohammad Siraj, and Virat Kohli.

The following players were named the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year: Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Marco Jansen, Adam Zampa, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Travis Head, and Daryl Mitchell.
The Men’s T20I and Women’s ODI and T20I Teams of the Year 2023 were also revealed by the ICC.
The following players were named the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year: Ravi Bishnoi, Richard Ngarava, Arshdeep Singh, Sikandar Raza, Mark Chapman, Phil Salt, Nicholas Pooran, and captain Suryakumar Yadav.
The following players were named the ICC Women’s ODI Team of the Year: Phoebe Litchfield, Ash Gardner, Annabel, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr, Beth Mooney (wk), and Chamari Athapaththu (C),Nahida Akter, Lea Tahuhu, and Nadine de Klerk
Chamari Athapaththu (C), Beth Mooney (WK), Laura Wolvaardt, Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr, Ellyse Perry, Ash Gardner, Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone, and Megan Schutt are the members of the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year.
