The UK’s Medical Research Council (MRC) has awarded a group of academics from the University of Karachi (UoK) with the coveted “Outstanding Team Impact Prize.”
The group’s cooperative approach to medical research, which has had a major influence on the field, was acknowledged with the prize.
The team from the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry and Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, ICCBs, UoK, led by Prof. Dr. M Iqbal Choudhary, a Mustafa (PBUH) Prize Laureate, and Prof. Dr. Sammer Yousuf, was recognized for their research outcomes from the “A Global Network of Tropical Neglected Diseases (NTD)” project.
Leading scientists from around the world are involved in this worldwide initiative, which is led by Durham University in the UK and financed by the MRC’s Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF).

The team’s accomplishment in combining a range of scientific backgrounds and experience was recognized with this prize, which was made possible by Prof. Choudhary’s guidance. This accomplishment not only acknowledged the team’s efforts but also gave Pakistan’s scientific and academic community cause for celebration.
