With the president’s consent, the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Amendment Ordinance 2024 has been formally released by the Law Ministry. Article 184, clause three, requires justifications of public interest to be stated prior to any hearing, as per the modified law.
The chief justice of Pakistan now has more authority to fix cases, which is one of the ordinance’s most significant modifications. The chief justice, the senior-most Supreme Court judge, and a judge chosen by the chief justice will form the panel that will determine case fixing under the new structure. The goal of this modification is to expedite the highest court’s decision-making procedure.
Every trial will be videotaped and have a transcript generated under the revised law.
