Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir slammed Multan’s deputy commissioner (DC) on Tuesday, demanding punishment for their “unacceptable” treatment of his family during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match.
On X, which was then known as Twitter, Amir wrote: “Shocked by the unacceptable behaviour of the Deputy Commissioner of Multan, who reportedly mistreated my family, arrogantly claiming ownership of the ground & unjustly ejecting them during a match.”
PSL 9: Mohammad Amir begs CM Maryam Nawaz to take action over Multan DC’s abuse
“This abuse of authority is unacceptable! Urging authorities for prompt action,” added the pacer, who urged newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take action against the cops.
Pakistan is presently hosting the PSL’s ninth edition. The first matches of this season are being held in Lahore and Multan concurrently.
Amir was selected by Quetta Gladiators for the PSL 9 after being released by the Karachi Kings. He has been a part of Kings since the inaugural season, in 2016.
He was the Gladiators’ second choice in the Platinum round.
Amir retired from international cricket in December 2020. He is currently playing leagues throughout the world and has no aspirations to return to international cricket, according to former team director Muhammad Hafeez, who personally met with the left-arm bowler and encouraged him to participate in local cricket if he wants to represent Pakistan again.
During a media appearance last year, Amir reiterated his retirement, adding that it was time for the new generation to step forward.
