Omar Ayub Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General, demanded on Monday for the trial of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s military secretary in the diplomatic cable issue.
Speaking to journalists outside Parliament House, Ayub, along with PTI’s newly elected chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, stated that the then-prime minister’s military secretary was responsible for keeping the cipher documents safe.
“If the case is to proceed, it should be proceeded against these persons [military secretary].”
Imran, the founder of the PTI, and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the party’s senior leader, were each condemned to ten years in prison in January 2024.
Speaking on the occasion, the PTI leader called for a “judicial inquiry” into the ciphergate matter.
Commenting on the PPP chairman’s statement to the lower house of parliament, Ayub said Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari used unparliamentary words today. “Bilawal Bhutto does not know the cipher’s mechanism.”
