The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Friday that it is in a position to establish a government at the Centre and has ruled out forming an alliance with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) or the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
“We are not in contact with the PPP or the PML-N,” Barrister Gohar told
He said that the PTI is winning 150 National Assembly seats and will have enough seats to establish a government at the Centre.
“We do not intend to form a coalition government with the PPP and the PML-N,” says Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
“We will form the government at the Centre and Punjab,” he went on to say.
He stated that the PTI had a commanding advantage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will form government there as well.
“PTI will remain in Parliament and will play its role.”
He stated that independent candidates are members of the PTI and will not join any party against party orders due to concerns about horse trading.
His declaration came shortly after PML-N senior leader Ishaq Dar said that independent candidates who win the 2024 general elections had contacted the party.
“The independents have contacted us, and they will join any party within the next 72 hours, as per the Constitution,” said the former finance minister in an interview with Geo News on Friday, as election results continued to come in.
Dar stated that the PML-N cannot force anyone to join the party, but they are being contacted by candidates who are eager.
