RAWALPINDI: Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced on Friday that his party will attend the All Parties Conference (APC), where the government is anticipated to give political parties confidence about Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
As he appeared in court at the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, where he is being held, the PTI founder told reporters, “My party will participate in the all-parties conference and hear what the government has to say.”
The founder of the PTI stated that the new anti-terrorism measure will “only lead to further instability” in the nation, even though his party has concerns about it.
The government has initiated a redoubled effort to combat terrorism by focusing on intelligence-based operations, in response to the growing threat of terrorism.
Khan made these remarks in response to News reports stating that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has chosen to form an APC “to gain political parties’ confidence” in the recently declared Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
The sources stated that PM Shehbaz will hold consultations to choose the APC date, and that the date would be disclosed subsequently.
The National Action Plan’s Central Apex Committee recommended intensifying pressure on militants targeting Pakistan, and the federal cabinet last week approved the start of the counterterrorism campaign.
However, a number of opposition parties have expressed reservations over the military operation, including the PTI, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam Fazl (JUI-F), Awami National Party (ANP), and others. They have demanded that parliament be consulted before making any decisions of this nature.
