RAWALPINDI: According to the military’s media wing, security forces on Monday killed seven terrorists in Sambaza Sector, Zhob district, close to the Pakistan-Afghan border in Balochistan.
The firefight happened during an operation that was intelligence-based, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“Own troops successfully encircled and confronted the terrorists who were running.” Seven terrorists who continued to actively engage in terrorist acts against security personnel and the murder of innocent citizens were consequently consigned to hell, according to the ISPR, which also stated that weapons, ammo, and explosives were found among the terrorists who were slain.
The media wing claimed that a sanitization effort was underway to get rid of any further terrorists that might be in the region. It said, “Pakistan’s security forces were committed to eradicating the terrorist threat.”
Pakistan saw 1,524 deaths and 1463 injuries from violence in 2023, as a result of up to 789 terror incidents and counterterrorism efforts.
The Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) published its Annual Security Report last month, which details close to a thousand deaths among security force personnel and civilians.
The total number of deaths, including those of criminals, is at an all-time high of six years, surpassing the total for 2018 and the most since 2017. In addition, the nation witnessed an increase in violence for the third year in a row, with a rise seen annually starting in 2021.
