The great player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani, openly discussed the gambling issue involving his former translator, Ippei Mizuhara. He stated that Mizuhara’s claim that he paid off his $4.5 million gambling debt was all made up. Ohtani has never wagered on sports.
Before the Dodgers’ last spring training game on Monday, Ohtani declared through a new English-Japanese interpreter, “I never bet on baseball or any other sports, or have asked somebody to do that on my behalf.” “And never went through a bookmaker to bet on sports.”
After hearing about the affair, Ohtani stated that he was still figuring out how to feel.
“To summarize how I’m feeling right now, I’m just beyond shocked,” stated Ohtani. “At this moment, it’s very difficult for me to put into words how I feel.
“I’m very saddened and shocked that someone who I trusted has done this.”
Ohtani claimed that until “a few days ago,” while the club was in South Korea for the Seoul Series against the San Diego Padres, he was unaware of Mizuhara’s debt and his activities with his accounts.
Ohtani started documenting his version of events with a media request that a member of his camp made.
