The Sindh government has banned pillion riding on the eve of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) Chehlum throughout the province, including Karachi, in an effort to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
Due to the Chehlum processions set for August 26, the Sindh Home Department, at the request of IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, has prohibited pillion riding in a number of the province’s districts.
According to officials, the provincial police head suggested in a letter dated August 8 that pillion riding be prohibited throughout the province on the days and times listed below in order to promote peaceful Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and prevent any untoward incidents.
Beginning in August, the South Range of Karachi will be off-limits.
