The House Oversight and Judiciary Committees will debate a resolution on Thursday that seeks to find Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for his refusal to provide the audio recording of President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur during his investigation into classified records. The resolution was subpoenaed.
The inability of the Justice Department to disclose the audio recordings had previously resulted in threats to hold Garland in contempt of Congress by House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky.
Every committee will convene on Capitol Hill on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
Reminding the committees last month that it had provided a transcript of Biden’s interview with the special counsel, the Justice Department stated that it would not provide the audio recording of the interview.
