BEIRUT: Witnesses in the area reported that on Monday, at least two airstrikes occurred close to the town of Ghaziyeh on the coast of Lebanon, around 60 kilometers (37 miles) north of the Israeli border.
Witnesses reported seeing two large black columns of smoke rising from the town and hearing many loud bangs. According to Lebanon’s official media, one of the Israeli-performed strikes struck an automobile.
The Israeli military responded to a question by saying it was “checking.
Israel has begun hitting Hezbollah with airstrikes along the southern border of Lebanon after the latter fired rockets across the border. Only infrequently has Israel launched attacks farther north of the boundary.
