KARACHI: According to a story published in The News on Monday, up to 14 bodies were discovered in the nation’s financial center on Sunday—a highly unusual development.
According to the publication, which quoted Edhi Foundation official Azeem Khan, the majority of the dead were drug users who passed away from extreme heat while high on drugs.
The official also noted that the number of drug users and fatalities has been rising in tandem with the intense heat, emphasizing that the more drugs an addict takes in during intense heat, the higher their chance of dying.
His comments coincide with the city’s recent bout of intense heatwaves, with highs of 39°C and humidity levels of 75%.
