The federal government promised to step up efforts to support Palestinians, who have been subjected to Israeli crimes since the conflict started in October of last year. As a result, the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) decided to end its sit-in in the Faizabad neighborhood of Islamabad on Friday.
The TLP made their decision this afternoon following fruitful negotiations with the current government.
Leading up to the TLP’s protest sit-in at the Faizabad Interchange about a week ago, party activists led by Saad Rizvi staged a protest rally last Saturday from Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh to Faizabad.
In its demands, the TLP called on the PML-N-led government to formally boycott Israeli goods and provide food and medical assistance to Palestinians, particularly those who are enduring Israel’s ceaseless military assault in Gaza. A demand they made was for Pakistan’s government to designate Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu as a “terrorist.”
With TLP leaders and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar by his side, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah declared, “The federal government will continue and boost its efforts to help the Muslims of Palestine.”
“A shipment of goods comprising fruits and medicines weighing more than 1,000 tonnes will be dispatched to Palestine before July 31,” stated Sanaullah.
