Leading out of the blocks, Sweden’s Duplantis recorded 10.37 seconds, and he managed to stare down his companion as he crossed the finish line.
Both racers set personal records, with Norwegian Warholm finishing in 10.47 seconds.
The two raced at Letzigrund Stadium, where they will both participate in Thursday’s Diamond League meeting in their regular events.
Following his triumph, Duplantis, 24, exclaimed, “I’m pretty fired up.”
“In what way am I not? Come on, give up playing with me.”
Duplantis and Warholm, dressed in blue and red boxing robes, respectively, came onto the track.
Duplantis gave Warholm a Sweden jersey to wear after winning.
It was a tremendous race, and I got to give it to Mondo—he beat me, hands down,” the 28-year-old Warholm added.
“He left the blocks quickly. He was really, really drunk.”
With their respective times, Duplantis and Warholm would have both advanced from the men’s 100-meter preliminary round of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Prior to surpassing his previous best once more by leaping 6.26 meters at the Diamond League competition in Silesia last month, Duplantis successfully defended his Olympic championship in Paris while also breaking a world record.
