Can the UN do anything to stop Israel’s war on Gaza?
There are increasing doubts about the UN's ability to put an end to Israel's attack on Gaza. Invoking Article 99 last month, UN chief Antonio Guterres warned that the Gaza war "may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security" and forced the Security Council to address the conflict. The United States, however, softened the wording of a later resolution, and nothing noteworthy happened—not even extra aid for the beleaguered Gazans.

The "Black Tax" has grown commonplace among football players, who are frequently among the highest-paid professionals in the world, but the topic is typically broached in private or in whispers. Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi reignited a long-standing discussion in November 2023 over the challenges faced by wage earners, particularly high-level football players who earn millions of dollars. "When you come from Africa - and this is something I don't think we speak about a lot - when you make money, it is not your money," Obi remarked in an interview with Rio Ferdinand, the former England international, on the Vibe with Five podcast.
