KARACHI: Following a six-year break, Mohsen Gilani, a former FIFA Development Officer, was elected as the 17th president of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
With 13 votes, Gilani won a simple majority in the second round of voting, defeating Karachi United Football Club’s Taha Alizai, his closest opponent, who only received 11.
Having worked on multiple football development projects throughout the region during his time at FIFA, Gilani brings a wealth of knowledge to the table.
An important turning point for Pakistani football is this election. The PFF has been embroiled in controversy, internal strife, and frequent foreign involvement for more than ten years.
