Days after rebels launched a massive onslaught and seized the northern Syrian city from government forces, Aleppo English teacher Abdulkafi visited his father for the first time in years on Monday.
He is an elderly man of 85. Before he passed away, he never imagined seeing me again,” Abdulkafi, who resides in opposition territory, added. He had failed to enter Aleppo, which was under regime control, prior to the onslaught.
The two men can be seen crying and embracing in a news video of the meeting.
Since Aleppo was taken by the armed rebel organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies from forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, Abdulkafi is one of several individuals inside the city who have spoken out.
