ISLAMABAD According to a Tuesday article by The News, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan’s telecom sector fell by more than 20% to $46 million in the fiscal year 2023–24 from $58 million in the previous fiscal year, 2022–23.
In the fiscal year 2023-24, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) presented its annual report on Monday, which showed that the outflow of dollars was $90 million, while the influx of foreign direct investment (FDI) was $46 million. FDI inflows totaled $58 million in 2022–2023, while outflows came to almost $280 million.
According to the research, there are 196 million telecom users overall, comprising 2.6 million fixed-line users, 193.4 million mobile users, and 143 million broadband users.
