KARACHI: In the West Asia Baseball Cup semifinal in Karj, Iran, Pakistan’s baseball team put on another outstanding display Tuesday afternoon, defeating India by a commanding 14-1 score.
After seven innings, the mercy rule was applied because there was no prospect for an Indian comeback due to Pakistan’s overwhelming lead.
The reigning champs came out firing, taking command of the game with five runs in the first and third innings.
The offensive surge was spearheaded by third baseman Hussain, who went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and four runs scored. Muhammad Rehan, the designated hitter, and center fielder Wasim Akram both had excellent games, combining for four hits and four runs batted in.
