Adele’s 2015 release of the well-known song “Million Years Ago” has landed her in legal hot water.
Million Years Ago is being removed from streaming providers due to plagiarism allegations, according to The Guardian.
Toninho Geraes, a Brazilian composer, claimed in court that a certain song from the Rolling In the Deep singer’s album 25 violated his 1995 hit song Mulheres (Woman).
He also sought composition credit on Adele’s song, lost royalties, and $160,000 in moral damages in the lawsuit.
Victor Torres, a judge from Brazil, decided that the music ought to be taken down from streaming services worldwide.
Additionally, Sony and Universal were ordered by the judge to stop “immediately and globally, from using, reproducing, editing.”
