The famous actor, musician, composer, and director Billy Bob Thornton has talked candidly about why he declined roles in films like Mission Impossible III (2006) and Spider-Man (2002).
He recently discussed his decision to decline “the bad guy” roles in both films on the Bingeworthy podcast, stating that he would rather be “looser and less predictable” in his work.
“I’m not very interested in those kinds of positions. I didn’t feel like waking up at four in the morning to spend five or six hours doing makeup when I was the Green Goblin. Furthermore, I didn’t want to be the one attempting to murder Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible III. People remember you if you’re the antagonist in a big-budget film like that.
