After receiving billions of views on the social media platform during his presidential campaign, President-elect Donald Trump said on Sunday that he supported letting TikTok continue to operate in the US for at least a short time.
Trump’s remarks in front of a group of conservative supporters in Phoenix, Arizona, were among the clearest indications to far that he is against TikTok possibly leaving the US market.
Citing national security concerns, the US Senate enacted a law in April mandating that ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, relinquish the app.
The owners of TikTok have requested that the legislation be overturned, and the US Supreme Court has consented to hear their case.
