A senior Palestinian source involved in the negotiations told the news that while negotiations to establish an agreement between Israel and Hamas on a truce in Gaza and the release of hostages are 90% complete, there are still important concerns that need to be resolved.
The ongoing Israeli military presence in the Philadelphi corridor, a strategically significant area of land in southern Gaza bordering the Egyptian border, is one of the primary grounds of contention.
The Palestinian source provided information about the talks taking place in Doha, including the possibility of establishing a buffer zone that is several kilometers wide and runs the whole length of Israel’s border with Gaza.
According to the official, Israel would continue to maintain a military presence in this region.
They said that once these problems were fixed, a three-phase ceasefire could be agreed upon in a matter of days.
