MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro Boosts Performance
MediaTek says the Dimensity 9600 Pro marks a major step for its flagship smartphone processors. The company built the chip around a 2nm design to improve both performance and efficiency.
The processor uses a new 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU layout. It combines two Arm C2 Ultra cores with six Arm C2 Pro cores.
MediaTek says the CPU delivers up to 17% better single core performance. Multi core performance can also improve by up to 15%. The company claims a 37% reduction in power use for single core workloads and a 61% reduction for multi core workloads.
Faster Memory and Storage
The Dimensity 9600 Pro also introduces support for LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage.
MediaTek says LPDDR6 can increase effective memory bandwidth by 33% at the same frequency. UFS 5.0 also offers faster data transfers than the previous generation.
The company has paired these technologies with its Dimensity Scheduling Engine 3.0.
Gaming Gets a Major Upgrade
Gaming is another important part of the Dimensity 9600 Pro.
The chipset uses the Arm Mali G2 Ultra NX GPU. MediaTek claims up to 27% higher peak graphics performance and 24% better power efficiency at peak performance.
The GPU also works with the chip’s AI hardware to improve graphics processing. MediaTek says compatible devices can support native gameplay above 185 frames per second.
The processor also adds improvements for ray tracing and AI-based graphics rendering. visuals while managing power use more effectively.
Camera and Video Improvements
The Dimensity 9600 Pro also brings a new approach to smartphone imaging.
Its AI Imaging Fusion Architecture connects the image signal processor with the NPU. This allows AI processing to work more closely with the camera pipeline.
MediaTek says the platform supports features such as 8K video recording, 4K HDR video, 4K 240fps slow motion, and advanced subject tracking.
The chip can also support camera sensors up to 200 megapixels.
MediaTek officially announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro on September 15, 2026. The company describes it as a flagship 5G platform built around a 2nm process.
The processor includes an octa core CPU, dual NPU architecture, LPDDR6 memory support, UFS 5.0 storage, Wi Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.2, and a new Mali G2 Ultra NX GPU.
MediaTek also lists support for displays up to WQHD+ at 180Hz and camera capabilities including 8K60 video and 4K240 slow motion.
MediaTek's 2nm Chip Targets Flagship Phones
The information about specific phones, launch dates, and regional availability should emerge as manufacturers announce their upcoming flagship devices.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro gives MediaTek a strong new entry in the flagship smartphone market.
Its 2nm design, All Big Core CPU, dual NPU architecture, faster memory, UFS 5.0 storage, and upgraded GPU put performance and on device AI at the heart of the new platform.
The real test will come when the first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro reach consumers.
