On the eve of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest against the alleged rigging of the February 8, 2024 general elections, the Punjab Home Department has enforced Section 144 throughout the province, prohibiting all forms of political assemblies, gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, and other activities on Saturday (tomorrow).

A law known as Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure gives district administrations the authority to temporarily prohibit gatherings of four or more people in a given area.

In prison The PTI, which was founded by Imran Khan, will observe “Black Day” tomorrow to commemorate the first anniversary of “rigged general elections.”

A representative for the PTI stated that “Section 144 has been imposed to protect human lives and properties and maintain a law and order situation [in the backdrop of PTI’s protests].”
