ISLAMABAD: According to reports, Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a crucial player in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) renewed attempt to engage in backchannel discussions with the establishment.
The News was informed by a reliable source that Gandapur was reviving the conversation by using his contacts. Waqas Akram Shaikh, the PTI’s information secretary, refuted the existence of any such attempt.
The insider said that PTI was keen to resume the process and saw Gandapur as the key player who could make it happen, despite the denial. There is currently no sign that the opposing side is prepared to participate.
The military has insisted that political parties should handle their own problems and that it would not participate in political debates.
