QUETTA: Officials said on Tuesday that an explosion in Sibi, Balochistan, had left three persons dead and five injured. This is the latest act of terrorism in the volatile province of Pakistan.
According to local authorities, the explosion happened along the city’s Jinnah Road; its nature is yet unknown.
Three patients are listed as being in “critical condition” by Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Shahid. The occurrence has prompted the facility to declare an emergency.
Eight days remain before the general elections on February 8; in light of this, security has been increased nationwide and law enforcement has been sent in to maintain law and order. The deadly explosion occurred.
The explosion happened while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) march was moving through the city, according to Sibi Deputy Commissioner Khuda-e-Rahim.
PTI Three party employees lost their lives in the explosion that targeted a rally one of the party’s candidates was verified by Balochistan’s spokesperson, Nazeer Achakzai.
Caretaker Minister of Information for Balochistan Jan Achakzai responded to the event by expressing sympathy to the families of the victims.
Reiterating that the next elections would take place on time, the minister said the attack was meant to deter the province administration from holding elections.
