According to a senior White House official on Wednesday, Apple will invest an extra $100 billion in the US, bringing its total commitment to $600 billion over the following four years.
First reported by US media, the announcement will be made in person at a White House event with President Donald Trump later Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. (2030 GMT).
Trump swiftly claimed credit for the announcement when Apple announced in February that it will recruit 20,000 workers and invest over $500 billion in the US.
It was the “largest-ever spend commitment” made by the Silicon Valley-based behemoth, which coincided with the competition among tech giants for supremacy in the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
It expands upon intentions revealed in 2021, the year Steve Jobs launched the business.
