Due to a minor injury to his right leg muscle, Lionel Messi will not play in Inter Miami’s pivotal Leagues Cup encounter against Pumas UNAM.
The injury was sustained by the 37-year-old Argentine great last Saturday during Inter Miami’s 2-1 triumph over Necaxa. The development was confirmed by head coach Javier Mascherano, who described it as a “minor muscle injury” and asked for patience while Messi heals.
Speaking to reporters, Mascherano stated, “There is good news within the bad news.” He typically bounces back from these kinds of injuries quite quickly. However, he is not accessible tomorrow. After that, we’ll monitor his development.
Messi’s return has not yet been scheduled.
The coaching staff is still hopeful that Messi will make a comeback before the knockout stages, even though there is no set timeframe for his return.
