According to US President Donald Trump, Israel has the last say over whether to occupy the whole Gaza Strip.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump sidestepped inquiries regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s purported intentions to completely occupy the enclave, saying his main priority is providing food to Gaza’s suffering citizens.
I’m not really sure about the rest of it. That will largely depend on Israel, Trump stated.
Concerns were raised by the comments because Israel’s war on Gaza, which began in October 2023, has already caused millions of people to be displaced and destroyed the majority of the region.
Concerns about a humanitarian catastrophe increase
Any attempt by Israel to retake Gaza might lead to a humanitarian crisis, according to UN officials.
