ISLAMABAD A new performance management system has been implemented in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for Customs and Inland Revenue as part of a significant reform to improve the performance of the nation’s civil services. This system will be extended to all services and Central Superior Services cadres, replacing the current faulty and manipulated Performance Evaluation Reports (PERs) system.
The plan, which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif endorsed, reduced the previous rating of 98% of Customs and Inland Revenue Service (also known as Income Tax Group) personnel as “outstanding” and “very good” to 40% in the case of the FBR.
In terms of integrity, 99% of Customs and Income Tax officers were rated as being in the best (“A” category) under the prior system.
