ISLAMABAD Amid mounting worries about political repression and the erosion of democratic standards, Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan (TTAP) leaders announced a statewide mobilization drive on Wednesday to safeguard judicial independence and uphold the Constitution.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza of the Sunni Ittehad Council stated during a joint press conference after a high-level meeting that protests would be held throughout the nation, particularly in Sindh and Punjab.
He announced a rally in Hyderabad on May 10 and an All Parties Conference (APC) in Karachi on May 5.
Asad Qaiser, a former speaker of the National Assembly, voiced serious concerns about the decline of judicial independence. Judges are being treated disrespectfully, and Pakistan’s judiciary is currently under threat. He declared, “We want an independent judiciary where judges decide cases based on merit.”
