MADRID: According to Novak Djokovic, he might have made his final appearance at the Madrid Open.
The three-time champion lost to Matteo Arnaldi of Italy in the second round on Saturday. The Serbian player acknowledged after the loss that he wasn’t sure if he would play in the event again.
Arnaldi advanced to the third round by defeating fourth seed Djokovic 6-3 6-4. The outcome sent the 37-year-old, who was given a bye in the first round, to his third straight loss.
Prior to his second-round Monte Carlo loss earlier this month, Djokovic suffered a shocking loss in the Miami Open final in late March. Djokovic has been vying for his 100th tour-level victory.
