NEW DELHI/KARACHI: As tensions between the South Asian neighbors increased after a deadly attack in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), an Indian government source told Reuters on Friday that India had urged the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to review loans awarded to Pakistan.
After an attack on tourists in the IIOJK last week killed 26 persons, India and Pakistan declared a number of measures, raising concerns that the most recent crisis between the nuclear-armed adversaries could turn into a war.
Islamabad has demanded an impartial inquiry and denied any involvement. The two nations have blocked each other’s planes from using their airspace, and India has canceled a crucial river water sharing agreement.
