LAHORE: A high alert has been issued throughout Punjab by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), warning of a notable increase in temperature and the possibility of a heatwave that would impact both plains and cities between May 15 and 19.
In order to lessen any possible effects, Director General PDMA Punjab Irfan Ali Khan has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners across the state to maintain vigilance and make sure that all pertinent departments, including district administrations, are on high alert.
According to a PDMA spokeswoman, temperatures are predicted to rise abnormally during the next few days, staying four to seven degrees Celsius higher than typical until May 20.
As the prediction period draws to a close, the caution also points to a possible shift in weather patterns.
