NEW DELHI: After being suspended due to the Pakistan-India dispute, the IPL returns on Saturday. However, there are concerns about foreign players, and the prolonged schedule has prompted a confrontation with world cricket.
Nine days later than originally scheduled, the IPL will now conclude on June 3, placing it in conflict with the English cricket summer and the June 11 World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s.
The South Africa and Australia teams are expected to start preparing for their WTC final before the end of May, while England’s ODI series against the West Indies begins on May 29.
South Africa demands that its Test players depart India by the May 26 deadline that was initially set.
