According to a US official speaking on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump will not visit Turkey to take part in the Russia-Ukraine negotiations that are set for Thursday.
The declaration was made soon after Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed the makeup of Moscow’s delegation, which noticeably excludes him.
Trump has earlier suggested that if Putin were also present, he could think about going to the talks in Ankara. Trump, however, has chosen not to travel since the Russian president has chosen to send delegates instead.
The planned negotiations in Turkey are a component of the continuous international endeavors to terminate the conflict in Ukraine, which started when Russia launched a full-scale invasion in February 2022.
