According to Reuters, a young Mexican social media influencer who was well-known for her makeup and beauty videos was savagely shot to death during a TikTok live show.
The Jalisco state prosecutor said in a statement released Tuesday evening that the death of Valeria Marquez, 23, is being examined in accordance with the procedures for femicide, which is defined as the killing of women or girls for gender-related reasons.
According to Mexican authorities, femicide can include sexual abuse, demeaning brutality, a relationship with the murderer, or the victim’s body being displayed in public.
According to the statement, a guy entered the beauty salon where Marquez worked in the city of Zapopan on Tuesday and shot her, killing her. No suspect was identified by the prosecutor’s office.
