ISLAMABAD For the 12 months ending in March 2025, sales in Pakistan’s retail pharmaceutical sector increased significantly, surpassing the Rs1.049 trillion mark.
In terms of rupees, this indicates a strong growth of 20.62%, and in terms of US dollars, it is even higher at 23.14%.
A closer examination of the statistics, however, shows that this remarkable revenue gain is mostly driven by large price increases rather than a notable increase in the number of medications used.
The most recent Market Access Tracker (MAT) Q1 2025 data from IQVIA Pakistan states that actual pharmaceutical unit sales increased by a relatively small 3.63% year over year to reach 3.77 billion units.
