Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent statements demanding that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) assume control of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons have drawn harsh criticism from Pakistan.
The statement was denounced by the Foreign Office on Thursday as “irresponsible” and “reflective of India’s defence failures and growing frustration.”
“The Indian defense minister’s comments reveal a shocking ignorance of international protocols and the IAEA’s actual mandate,” the Foreign Office spokesperson told the media in a statement. This is essentially India’s self-imposed nuclear blackmail.
The spokesperson underlined that Pakistan will not be intimidated by inflammatory remarks or threats since its defense capabilities are strong enough to thwart any Indian aggression on the conventional battlefield.
