Jonathan Groff is glad that he came out as gay on his own and wasn’t outed by someone else.
Groff stated during an appearance on NPR’s Wild Card with Rachel Martin that he is “so grateful that someone didn’t rip that truth out of me, that I was surrounded by such loving people.”
“No one ever really forced me to come out as myself, not even when I came to New York and was in Spring Awakening with a cast of my peers — and everyone undoubtedly knew that Cody, my boyfriend, was not my roommate, as I claimed he was. “They simply embraced me with affection,” he said.
