According to a US official on Wednesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will soon be returning to the Middle East as talks to end Israel’s offensive and release the hostages held by Hamas gain momentum.
Under the condition of anonymity, a US official stated that Blinken will be returning to the area “in the coming days,” without mentioning the locations or dates.
Since October 7, this will be Blinken’s fifth visit to the area.
Every trip, the top official has routinely been to many Arab nations as well as Israel.
The most recent journey occurs while Israel and Hamas deliberate on a plan that would halt hostilities in exchange for hostage releases.
A “good, strong proposal” was what Blinken described as having “real hope” on Monday.Additionally on Wednesday, Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer—a close friend of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—and US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan were scheduled to meet in Washington.
