One of the most memorable days in Pakistan’s history is May 10, when our military delivered a devastating blow to India, making Modi’s defeat all but certain. The Pakistani government elevated Syed Asim Munir, the chief of army staff, to the position of field marshal based on his excellent strategy and doctrine of pushing the enemy to retreat. The Pakistan Army defeated a far more formidable foe under his leadership and military vision. The second field marshal in Pakistan’s military history is Asim Munir. Only General Ayub Khan had held this position prior to him, and he had done it by elevating himself while serving as president.
The Field Marshal told the Parliamentary Committee on National Security that in addition to strong governance, Pakistan has to establish itself as a “hard state.”
