MUNICH: On Wednesday, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the game-winning goal in Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Germany in Munich, reversing his recent run of bad luck against the Germans and advancing Portugal to the Nations League final.
The first victory over Germany after five defeats was achieved by Ronaldo’s tap-in in the 68th minute, his 137th international goal and his longest run against any national team without tasting victory.
Three minutes after halftime, Florian Wirtz’s magical moment gave Germany the lead after a sluggish first half. He started and completed a deft burst through the middle and headed in the first goal.
With 30 minutes left, Francisco Conceicao of Portugal tied the score with a spectacular solo goal after running 35 meters.
