NEW YORK/LONDON: In a dramatic conclusion to a high-profile international case that lasted almost ten years, a U.S. federal judge sentenced Muhammad Asif Hafeez, a Pakistani national who was previously known as the “Sultan of Durgs,” to 16 years in prison on two counts of narcotics trafficking charges.
Judge Victor Marrero of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York presided over the sentencing hearing, which concluded a legal drama that started with Hafeez, a native of Lahore, being arrested in August 2017 at his London apartment and his subsequent extradition to the US approximately three years prior.
