Pakistan reminded the Security Council during an emergency session held on Friday that Israel’s attacks on Iranian nuclear and military installations pose a “grave danger and a serious threat” to peace, security, and stability throughout the whole region and beyond.
In order to deal with the quickly developing crisis, the 15-member Council cleared its initial agenda. The chief of the UN nuclear watchdog also spoke, alerting the audience to the serious dangers to nuclear safety and regional stability.
Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, vehemently denounced what he called Israel’s “unjustified and illegitimate” attack against Iran in his speech at the emergency UN meeting.
He reiterated Islamabad’s unwavering support for the Iranian government and its citizens.
