ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Justice Sarfraz Dogar can remain the acting chief justice of the IHC, dismissing arguments against the transfer of judges from three high courts to the Islamabad High Court, and declared it to be constitutional.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, who was in charge of the five-member constitutional bench that was considering petitions against the transfer of Justices Muhammad Asif from the Balochistan High Court, Khadim Hussain Soomro from the Sindh High Court, and Sarfraz Dogar from the Lahore High Court, announced the decision. The petitions were filed by the IHC Bar Association, the Karachi Bar Association (KBA), and five IHC judges. Among those moved to the IHC were the three judges.
